Wine Cellar 2009

Since the introduction of Wine Cellar (formerly known as Project Wine Cellar) offerings back in 1971, the wine world has changed tremendously in both quality and range of varietal grape offerings. One of the new trends has been a slow but ever-increasing interest in organic food products, including wine.

We are pleased to introduce this year’s selections, which include the use of organically grown varietal grapes.

ORGANIC SYRAH - January 2009

This dry red wine features outstanding flavours of blueberry, cedar and spicy pepper. The finish is long and smooth with soft, well integrated grainy tannins. Starting Specific Gravity 1.099. Medium to full body.

ORGANIC SAUVIGNON BLANC - February 2009

A dry crisp white wine with aromas of grapefruit, gooseberry and citrus. The taste is fresh and vibrant with notes of lemon/lime and sweet melon. Starting Specific Gravity 1.092. Medium body.

Holiday Wine 2008**

RED: THREE ROOS Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon-Viognier: A light to medium-bodied dry red displaying notes of pepper, ripe berry fruit and soft vanilla oak. The Viognier is added to enhance the fruit and softness on the palate. Click here for the complete wine profile.

WHITE: THREE ROOS Verdelho-Gewurztraminer-Muscat: A unique blend of 3 aromatic white varieties. This slightly off-dry white is wonderfully fruity with crisp acidity. The bouquet is floral with highlights of pineapple, ripe melon, lime and lychee. Click here for the complete wine profile.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: From California’s Napa Valley comes this opulent dry red displaying bright black cherry fruit, subtle cedar notes, cassis and outstanding depth of flavour. The colour is deep and rich. In the aroma, you will find notes of plum, vanilla and black currant. The finish is long and lingering with fine-grained, well-integrated tannins. Available in VERY limited quantities - order yours now!

Available Now

Spanish Rioja: Made from the famous Spanish grape Tempranillo, this dry red is medium ruby red in colour. The aroma consists of raspberry, spice, cherry and vanilla oak. On the palate, the taste is dry, medium bodied and well structured with complex flavours of cherry, leather and vanilla with a soft, medium tannic finish. The wine is quite palatable soon after bottling and does not require extensive aging.

Gewurztraminer Blush: Gewürztraminer is well known for its inviting spicy and complex character. We add a splash of red Merlot to the Gewürztraminer for colour and depth. Click here for the complete wine profile.
